'The painting "Nude" is not only the cornerstone of the extensive collection of works by the artist August Macke at the LWL Museum of Art and Culture in Münster, but also an outstanding example of the artist's use of colour and his constant exploration of nude painting. He is particularly interested in the depiction of the figure's posture and form. The facial features - as is also evident in the 'Nude' - are often typified, reduced and abstracted. This contrasts with the postures of the models, which August Macke shows in classical, almost academic poses. August Macke, in his typical exuberance of colour, usually includes people in his compositions in a narrative way. Here, for example, the man reading the newspaper, who seems to have hardly any eyes for the nature surrounding him and in this way directs the viewer's eye to the landscape. Original: Oil on canvas, Museum Ludwig in Cologne. High-quality reproduction, hand-painted on canvas using the fine art giclée technique and stretched on a stretcher frame. In an elegant solid wood frame. Size 53 x 74 cm (H/W).
The giclée edition presented here is produced in the renowned Dietz-Offizin directly on high-quality artist's canvas made of 100% cotton. The canvas is then traditionally stretched on a stretcher frame. This allows the picture to be re-stretched in the event of fluctuations in room temperature and humidity. High-quality framing rounds off the picture perfectly. Each picture is numbered on the reverse. Original: 1912, oil on canvas, 69.5 x 52.7 cm, privately owned. 'He gave colour the brightest and purest sound before all of us,' Franz Marc called out to August Macke when he fell in 1914. They had been close friends. Macke had discovered some of Marc's lithographs during a visit to Munich in 1910 and sought contact with him. In the same year, he accepted Marc's invitation to come to Lake Tegernsee, where he created his 'Sailboats'. Original: 1910, oil on canvas, Albertina, Batlingen Collection. Reproduced using the fine art giclée process, transferred directly to artist's canvas and mounted on a stretcher frame. Limited edition of 499 copies, with numbering and certificate on the reverse. Perfect balance: August Macke's tightrope walker An artist, commented on by a painter who knows how to construct his composition with no less artistic skill: just like the tightrope walker appearing in central perspective, Macke's painting is also perfectly balanced, both in terms of colour and perspective. The viewer's line of vision is narrowed by the filled yellow-orange corners of the picture (the shoulders of the people standing next to him, a tent roof and a large poster) and at the same time guided towards the subject of the picture by the position of the viewer's head in the blue suit. Original: oil on canvas. Bonn Municipal Art Museum. Brilliant reproduction in fine art giclée process directly on artist's canvas, mounted on a stretcher frame. Limited edition of 499 copies, with numbering and certificate on the reverse. Framed in handcrafted real wood frame. Format 50 x 67 cm. ars mundi exclusive edition.
August Macke was inspired to create a series of works by the spectacular tightrope performances of the Swiss artist family Ludwig Knie on the Rathausplatz in Thun. He made sketches on site and created watercolours and oil paintings on this theme in his studio. The artist captures the balancing act in expressive colours and an exciting composition of rising and falling lines. Original: around 1913, oil on canvas, private collection. Reproduction in fine art giclée process on artist's canvas, mounted on stretcher frame and framed in solid wood. Limited edition of 499 copies, numbered on the reverse. Format 65 x 50 cm (H/W).
Paul Klee, Louis Moilliet and August Macke's trip to Tunis made art history: Under the African sun, they revolutionised their painting style, found countless motifs in the winding alleyways and explored the themes of form and colour in a new way. Their first stop was the villa district of St Germain, now known as Ez-Zahra near Tunis. Ernst Jäggi, a doctor friend of Molliet's, lived here. His house still stands today. And even today, a century after the legendary journey, Macke's Tunis paintings bear witness to his painterly genius. 'St Germain near Tunis' (1914): A selected work from the last and strongest period of Macke's artistic work. Original: 1914, watercolour on paper, 26 x 21 cm, Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus, Munich. Limited edition of 1,000 copies. The motif was elaborately reproduced on 225g genuine laid paper with embossing. Framed in solid wood moulding. Format 38 x 33 cm (H/W).
August Macke spent the period between November 1909 and November 1910 at Lake Tegernsee in the 'Staudacherhaus', which his newlywed wife Elisabeth described as follows: 'The house was a solid farmhouse, in the family for generations, with tradition and culture preserved. August was able to work freely and unhindered, especially as Staudacher made an old empty workshop available to him as a studio. And so almost 200 works were created here in one year. Original: oil on canvas, 41.5 x 40 cm (H/W), Ziegler Collection Foundation in the Mülheim an der Ruhr Art Museum. Edition in sixteen-colour collotype on laid paper. Limited world edition of 333 copies. Framed in silver-coloured solid wood frame, glazed. Format 60 x 58 cm (H/W). Lucas Lichtdruck GmbH; Edition + Verlag, 1991.

The bouquet of flowers as a bouquet of colours: Prismatic colours were the main elements with which August Macke composed his paintings. He was concerned with 'putting colours together on the board without thinking of a real object' - even when he was using a classical subject. In his 'Still Life with Anemones and a Blue Book', for example, the focus is not on accuracy but on colour harmony. Radiant yellow, bright red, powerful blue: the intensity and unique luminosity of the colours are typical of the work of August Macke (1887-1914). In 1911, Macke founded the legendary artists' group 'The Blue Rider' with Marc, Kandinsky, Jawlensky and Münter. He also met Robert Delaunay, with whom he became close friends. Influenced by Delaunay's Orphism, Macke no longer depicted light and shadow using light and dark areas of colour, but instead allowed the contrasting effect to emerge entirely from the luminosity of the colours - as in his 'Sunny Path' from 1913. The faces are not painted in, the individual character of the figures cannot be deduced. They are blurred within the areas of colour. The viewer gazes into a colour composition from which the beauty of the world shines out.Original: 1913, oil on cardboard, LWL-Museum für Kunst und Kultur, Münster, inv. no. 1580 LM. Macke's motif 'Turkish Café II' from 1914 with its bright, softly flowing colours resembles an earthly paradise. Macke's 'Unter den Lauben von Thun' from 1913 transforms the classic motif of the experience of nature associated with a walk into an entirely urban one: Strolling figures in Sunday best are depicted - the walk becomes a 'stroll'.
