They are among the most famous works of Impressionism and among the most expensive paintings in the world: the 'Nymphéas', which the elderly Claude Monet created in his garden in Giverny. In 1890, Claude Monet bought a picturesque plot of land in Giverny and devoted himself entirely to designing his garden. He created a paradise with seas of exotic plants and ponds with shimmering mother-of-pearl water lilies. Monet had a Japanese wooden bridge built over the water lily pond. Here he found the motifs for his world-famous water lily and garden paintings, which characterised his late artistic work. 'Yellow Water Lilies and Agapanthus': Iridescent water lilies, one of Monet's favourite plants, form small islands of leaves in the reflecting water. Original: Oil on canvas, Musée Marmottan, Paris. High-quality reproduction in fine art giclée technique, directly hand-painted on canvas and traditionally stretched on stretcher frame. The visible linen structure emphasises the painting-like effect of the object. In an elegant solid wood frame. Format 74 x 64 cm (H/W).
When an Impressionist becomes a gardener, the choice of plants corresponds to his brush and palette: Monet chose plants for his ornamental garden in Giverny whose flowers and shapes delighted him throughout the seasons. Two particularly high-quality, lightfast reproductions on glass. The glass panel is mounted with special spacers (12 mm) and appears to float freely in front of the wall. After many years abroad, Edvard Munch returned to his native Norway in 1909, first in Kragerø in the south of the country, then from 1916 until the end of his life in Ekely near Oslo, where he retired to a 40,000 square metre former market garden. Landscape painting played a major role in his enormously productive late work. The almost axially symmetrical composition draws the eye to a pair of lovers, who at the same time become part of the depicted nature through the choice of corresponding colours. Original: 1911-13, oil on canvas, 70 x 90 cm, privately owned, edition on canvas, stretched on stretcher. Limited edition of 980 copies, numbered on the reverse. Framed in a white and gold solid wood frame. Size 60 x 75.5 cm (H/W). ars mundi exclusive edition.
The reflection of the moonlight on the surface of the water is far more than the reproduction of a natural impression. Limited edition of 499 copies. ars mundi exclusive edition.

In 1916, Edvard Munch (1863-1944) bought the Ekely property, formerly a market garden in the Oslo suburb of Skøyen. Here Munch had enough space to work, and he lived here until the end of his life. Munch's extensive and colourful artistic work from this phase is also an expression of the favourable working conditions under which he worked at Ekely. Some of his most famous paintings were created during this time. 'Apple Tree at the Studio': Original: oil on canvas, Munch-Museet, Oslo. With 'The Scream', the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch created one of the most famous motifs in art history and a key work of Expressionism: A shadowy figure on a bridge against a fiery red sky, hands held to his head, eyes and mouth wide open. Munch produced a total of four versions in different techniques and sizes: Two in tempera on cardboard (from 1893 and 1910) and two in pastel on wood (1893 and 1895), varying in size from 74 x 56 cm to 91 x 73.5 cm; there are also several smaller lithographs. The 1895 version realised almost 120 million dollars at auction in 2012, making it one of the most expensive paintings ever. There are various theories about the genesis of the 'Scream'. One says that Munch visited an exhibition of Inca mummies with Paul Gauguin in 1889, from which he drew inspiration, another that the painting captures the reddish sky caused by the eruption of the Krakatau volcano in 1883. Original: pastel/cardboard, 59 x 79 cm, privately owned Oslo. Edition on artist's canvas with linen structure, on wooden stretcher frame. Limited edition of 980 copies with numbered certificate on the reverse. Framed in black gold solid wood frame. Size 70 x 53.5 cm (H/W). ars mundi exclusive edition.
