Henri Edmond Cross: Picture 'Regatta' (1895), framed
Henri Edmond Cross: Picture 'Regatta' (1895), framed
The 'seascape' is a genre in its own right. Originating from the understandable pride of ownership of rich shipowners who wanted their ships to be depicted, over time it became a subject that fascinated great painters per se, even inspiring them to incredible artistic experiments - just think of William Turner. But modernism also loved ships and the sea. For example, the great pointillist Henri-Edmond Cross (1856-1910) and, a generation later, the 'unique' Paul Klee (1879-1940).Henri-Edmond Cross: 'Regatta': Sailboats off Saint Clair, Cap Nègre in the background. Original: 1895, oil on canvas, Sotheby's London, lot 40. Edition transferred directly onto artist's canvas using the fine art giclée process and stretched on a stretcher. Limited edition of 499 copies, numbered, with certificate. Framed in a handcrafted, white-gold-coloured solid wood frame. Size 63 x 84 cm (H/W). ars mundi exclusive edition.

Henri Edmond Cross: Picture 'The Pink Cloud' (1896), framed in white and gold colour

Their works reflect the harmonious combination of nature, atmosphere and innovative painting technique.Original: 1896, oil on canvas, 54.6 x 61 cm (H/W), The Cleveland Museum of Art.Edition on canvas, stretched on stretcher. Henri Rousseau: Picture 'Jungle landscape with setting sun' (1910), framed
Henri Rousseau: Picture 'Jungle landscape with setting sun' (1910), framed
It is not the real jungle that Henri Rousseau wanted to depict here. Instead, the subject appears dreamlike and is entirely determined by his fascination with the richness of form and colour in nature. It is one of his last works and shows why the autodidact and full-time publican went down in art history as the forefather of 'naive' painting and magical realism. Original: 1910, oil on canvas, Kunstmuseum Basel. Edition transferred directly onto artist's canvas using the fine art giclée process and stretched onto a stretcher frame. Limited edition of 499 copies, numbered, with certificate. Framed in a handcrafted, black and silver-coloured solid wood frame. Size 56 x 78 cm (H/W). ars mundi exclusive edition.

Joseph Karl Stieler: Picture 'Goethe' (1828), framed
Joseph Karl Stieler: Picture 'Goethe' (1828), framed
To this day, it is perhaps Goethe's most famous portrait, and the 'Olympian' would have been quite happy with it: On 4 June 1828 - Stieler had been in Weimar for just over a week and had probably barely made it past the first sketches - Goethe wrote to Christian Friedrich Tieck: 'The royal Bavarian court painter Herr Stieler [has ... ] come a long way; it is not for me to speak and judge about it, but I may say this much, that I consider it very fortunate to see my memory preserved in this way.'Behind the 'Hofmahler Herr Stieler' is Joseph Karl Stieler (1781-1858), an important representative of classicist painting and famous for his works in the 'Schönheiten-Galerie' of the Munich Residence, which were commissioned by Ludwig I of Bavaria. This portrait was also commissioned by the Bavarian king; Goethe considered it an honour and an obligation to fulfil Ludwig's wish and sat as a model for Stieler, whom he soon came to appreciate as a highly educated conversationalist, for almost a whole month. Original: 1828, oil on canvas, 78 x 63.8 cm, Neue Pinakothek, Munich. Giclée edition by the renowned Dietz-Offizin with tactile and visible canvas structure, stretched directly onto artist's canvas using a stretcher, just like an original painting. Gold-coloured solid wood framing. Limited to 990 copies. Format 56 x 47 cm (H/W).
