Paul Gauguin: Painting 'Rider on the Beach' (1902), framed
Paul Gauguin: Painting 'Rider on the Beach' (1902), framed
Paul Gauguin's (1848-1903) main works were created in Tahiti, where he first emigrated in 1891 and then permanently in 1895. His life there stands in striking contrast to the motifs he worked tirelessly on in the South Seas. It was characterised by poverty and illness, while his paintings depict Tahiti as an exotic world with seemingly happy and unselfconscious people - a reflection of a lost paradise. Original: 1902, oil on canvas, 65.6 x 75.9 cm, Museum Folkwang, Essen. 5-colour edition in hybrid process on 260g Rives laid paper. Limited edition of 500 copies. Motif size/sheet format 53 x 62 cm (H/W). Photo: Jens Nober. Framed in black-silver solid wood frame, glazed. Format 59 x 68 cm (H/W).

Paul Gauguin: Picture 'Contes Barbares - Barbarische Erzählung' (1902), framed
Paul Gauguin: Picture 'Contes Barbares - Barbarische Erzählung' (1902), framed
Folkwang founder Karl Ernst Osthaus almost refrained from buying this masterpiece in 1904, as prices for Gauguin rose immediately when news of the painter's death reached Europe. By the time it was painted, the Polynesian paradise had long since become hell for the painter: Penniless, seriously ill and threatened with imprisonment, he created works of barely encoded, existential impact. The 'Contes Barbares' thematise death and transience with symbols such as offerings and lilies - and they do so in portraits: Gauguin adds his friend Jacob Meyer de Haan, who had died years earlier, to the young, vital Polynesian women. Original oil on canvas, Museum Folkwang, Essen. Fine art giclée on artist's canvas, mounted on stretcher. Limited edition of 499 numbered copies, with certificate. Framed in handcrafted real wood frame. Format 79 x 56 cm (H/W). Exclusively at ars mundi.

Paul Klee: Painting 'Hauptweg und Nebenwege' (1929), dimension 2
Paul Klee: Painting 'Hauptweg und Nebenwege' (1929), dimension 2
'Hauptweg und Nebenwege' is one of Paul Klee's best-known paintings. It belongs to the group of his numerous layer and stripe paintings and was created in January 1929 after Klee's second trip to Egypt. In it, he processes his experiences of light and colour there - the atmospheric key to understanding an ancient culture. The blue of the Nile, the yellow-orange of the Egyptian sun and the layers of colour of the ornamental bands in the burial chambers of Assuan. Original: 1929, oil on canvas, 83 x 67 cm, Museum Ludwig, Cologne. The two-level reproduction shown here impressively directs the viewer's gaze to the central message of the painting. This modern method of reproduction on acrylic glass enables a high level of colour brilliance and at the same time creates an unprecedented presence in the room. Classics of art history become modern spatial objects here.Dimension 2: Reproduction on 2 levels on aluminium dibond behind 3 mm thick acrylic glass, limited to 499 copies and numbered. Total size 96 x 75 cm (H/W). Detail 2nd level 84 x 26 cm (H/W). With hanging device. Due to the smooth surface, mirror effects may occur depending on the incidence of light.

Paul Klee: Picture 'Adventure Ship' (1927), framed
Paul Klee: Picture 'Adventure Ship' (1927), framed
Klee appreciated the originality of children's drawings and described them as 'instructive examples'. The 'Adventure Ship' shows a simultaneous depiction that is also frequently chosen by children, namely the simultaneous depiction of the inside and outside ('X-ray image'). The depiction of space and the filling of the surface also seem to be inspired by children's drawings. Original: Mixed media on cardboard, Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich. High-quality reproduction in fine art giclée process, worked by hand on canvas and stretched on stretcher frame. Limited edition of 499 copies. Framed in a black and silver-coloured solid wood frame. Klee's paintings are full of irony and humour, as in this original self-portrait. Or is it rather the portrait of life itself, colourful, multifaceted and unpredictable? Original: oil on cardboard, Kunstmuseum Basel. The two-level reproduction shown here impressively directs the viewer's gaze to the central message of the painting. This modern method of reproduction on acrylic glass enables a high level of colour brilliance and at the same time creates an unprecedented presence in the room. Paul Klee: Picture 'Camel in rhythmic tree landscape' (1920)
Paul Klee: Picture 'Camel in rhythmic tree landscape' (1920)
It is no coincidence that Klee's 'Camel' is one of his major works. It exemplifies the originality of the artist, who went his very own way in the midst of a bubbling art epoch. The painting is not either/or, it is everything at the same time. It is figurative - the camel is clearly recognisable. It is abstract in the assignment of colour planes and the graphic elements of circle and line. They can easily be understood as trees, but also as musical notation, showing the camel's swaying gait through (its) score - an image that can be seen and 'heard'. Original: Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen in Düsseldorf. High-quality reproduction on aluminium dibond behind 3 mm thick acrylic glass, with mounting. Format 120 x 80 cm (H/W). Due to the smooth surface, mirror effects may occur depending on the incidence of light.

Paul Klee: Picture 'Castle and Sun' (1928), framed
Paul Klee: Picture 'Castle and Sun' (1928), framed
In its composition of individual areas, 'Burg und Sonne' is still reminiscent of Klee's Tunis pictures, but already shows the transition to his expressive-abstract late work. The warm colours give the impression that it is the sun that bathes the castle in evening light. Original: 1928, oil on canvas, Collection Roland Penrose, London. High-quality fine art giclée on artist's canvas, stretched on stretcher frame. Limited edition of 980 copies with certificate on the reverse. Framed with dark solid wood moulding. Format 80 x 90 cm (H/W).

Paul Klee: Picture 'Fischbild' (1925), framed
