Product information "Vincent van Gogh: Picture 'Starry Night over the Rhône' (1888), framed"
190 oil paintings and 108 drawings - during his stay in Arles from 21 February 1888 to 3 May 1889, which lasted just over a year, Vincent van Gogh went into a creative frenzy. At the same time, a striking brightening of his colour palette literally catches the eye: in numerous letters, he requests chrome yellow, vermilion, Prussian blue and emerald green from his brother Theo, who supported him unwaveringly until his death, and subsequently uses these colours intensively. A shining example is the 'Starry Night over the Rhône', the description of which we leave to the great painter (and in his letters often no less great prose writer) himself: '... a study of the Rhône, of the illuminated city reflected in the blue river. Above it, the starry sky - with the Great Bear - sparkling pink and green on the cobalt blue surface of the sky, while the lights of the city and its glaring reflections are reddish gold and bronze green. (Letter to Eugène Bloch) Original: Musée d'Orsay, Paris. For a brilliant, authentic reproduction, the original was transferred directly onto an artist's canvas made of 100% cotton using the Fine Art Giclée process and mounted on a stretcher frame.
