Product information "Pablo Picasso: Picture 'Buste de Femme (Jacqueline)' (1963), framed"
According to a dictum that is not to be taken entirely seriously, Picasso changed his partners just as often as he changed his painting styles. That is saying something for one of the most versatile artists in art history, who shaped and influenced the styles and directions of an entire century. The fact is that women fascinated him all his life - also as the subject of his works - and he was fascinated by women all his life. His portraits and homages to femininity are countless. 'Buste de Femme (Jacqueline)': When Picasso met her, she was a ceramics saleswoman in Vallauris, where Picasso had been creating ceramic works since 1946 - and 46 years his junior. The artist portrays the 36-year-old as a full-blooded beauty and uses one of the oldest 'tricks' in art history to emphasise her eyes: Jaqueline, who looks straight ahead, follows the viewer, regardless of the angle at which they are standing in relation to the picture. 5-colour frequency-modulated reproduction on 250g fine art cardboard. Limited edition of 5,000 copies. Sheet size 98 x 66 cm (H/W). In solid wood frame with bevelled mat, glazed. Format 113 x 81 cm (H/W). © Succession Picasso / VG Bild-Kunst, Bonn 2009, © Rosengart Collection, Lucerne.
