Marc Chagall's illustrations for the story 'Odyssey' - first published in 1974 by Mourlot, Paris - are a homage to Homer's epic. Chagall himself visited Greece twice and was strongly inspired by the ancient mythological motifs on these journeys. Grano lithograph in 8-12 colours using the screen-free Granolitho process on 210g Fabriano laid paper. From the German edition authorised by Valentina Brodsky Chagall, published in 2 volumes, 580 pp., limited edition of 2,500 copies, with 43 colour plates and 39 monochrome reproductions of the original lithographs by Marc Chagall, Daco-Verlag, Stuttgart, 1989. © 1987, Copyright by COSMOPRESS, Geneva. Motif size 36.5 x 28.5 cm (H/W). Framed in silver solid wood moulding with bevelled passe-partout, glazed. As a special feature, the back of the frame shows an additional page of text. Format 51 x 43 cm (H/W). Single piece.
