Instead, the subject appears dreamlike and is entirely determined by his fascination with the richness of form and colour in nature. It is one of his last works and shows why the autodidact and full-time publican went down in art history as the forefather of 'naive' painting and magical realism. Original: 1910, oil on canvas, Kunstmuseum Basel. Edition transferred directly onto artist's canvas using the fine art giclée process and stretched onto a stretcher frame.
