Caspar David Friedrich: Picture 'Sailing ship in the fog' (1815), framed

Product information "Caspar David Friedrich: Picture 'Sailing ship in the fog' (1815), framed"

It was his landscapes that made Caspar David Friedrich one of the most important painters of the Romantic period. But this fame did not last - almost forgotten during his lifetime, Friedrich was only rediscovered in the 20th century, with attention now focussing not only on his landscapes, but also on an almost classic 'seascape' such as the 'Sailing Ship in the Fog': with full sails, the three-master is drifting across a turbulent, fog-shrouded sea. Original: oil on canvas, Städtische Kunstsammlungen, Chemnitz. For a brilliant reproduction, the original artwork was transferred directly onto an artist's canvas made of 100% cotton using the fine art giclée process and mounted on a stretcher frame. Limited edition of 499 copies, with numbering and certificate on the reverse. Framed in handcrafted real wood museum framing with metal leaf gilding. Size 79 x 57 cm (H/W). Exclusively at ars mundi.
