A visit to the zoo with an artist's eye - August Macke was a regular visitor to Cologne Zoo, where he filled sketchpad after sketchpad. In his studio, he worked them into his famous animal paintings. Here, however, he shows the zoological garden itself, visited by people, in all its colourful splendour. Original: 1912, oil on canvas, 59 x 98 cm, Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus, Munich. Edition transferred directly onto artist's canvas using the fine art giclée process and stretched onto a stretcher frame. Limited edition of 980 copies, numbered, with certificate. Framed in a handcrafted, black and silver-coloured solid wood frame. Size 54 x 90 cm (H/W). ars mundi exclusive edition.
