Product information "August Macke: Picture 'Sunny Path' (1913), framed"
Radiant yellow, bright red, powerful blue: the intensity and unique luminosity of the colours are typical of the work of August Macke (1887-1914). In 1911, Macke founded the legendary artists' group 'The Blue Rider' with Marc, Kandinsky, Jawlensky and Münter. He also met Robert Delaunay, with whom he became close friends. Influenced by Delaunay's Orphism, Macke no longer depicted light and shadow using light and dark areas of colour, but instead allowed the contrasting effect to emerge entirely from the luminosity of the colours - as in his 'Sunny Path' from 1913. The faces are not painted in, the individual character of the figures cannot be deduced. They are blurred within the areas of colour. The viewer gazes into a colour composition from which the beauty of the world shines out.Original: 1913, oil on cardboard, LWL-Museum für Kunst und Kultur, Münster, inv. no. 1580 LM.
