Product information "August Macke: Picture 'Coloured Forms' (1913), version framed in black and gold"
Inspired by a Robert Delaunay exhibition, August Macke created several works without any pictorial objects in 1913. As in this painting 'Coloured Forms', he worked exclusively with geometric, flat structures in strong, high-contrast colours. With such studies, the German Expressionist not only analysed the effect of colours and forms, but also took the first steps towards abstraction. Original: 1913, oil on cardboard and plywood panel, 53.1 x 38.5 cm, inv. no. 1610 LM, LWL-Museum für Kunst und Kultur, Münster.
