Product information "Andy Warhol: Picture 'Shot Orange Marilyn' (1967), framed"
A special Warhol rarity, exclusively at ars mundi: perhaps Andy Warhol's most famous portrait has been published only 980 times in a unique edition. A world premiere, as this is the first time that the motif has been published as a screen print on handmade paper! When Andy Warhol discovered a photo print of the film star and sex symbol Marilyn Monroe at a flea market in the 1960s, he did not realise that he was about to create a milestone in art history. Warhol experimented for the first time with serial alienation in screen printing and was soon to have created an icon of modernism. Each screen print bears the embossed relief seal of the Andy Warhol Foundation. The exquisite silver frame with bevel cut passe-partout and colour-coordinated inlay strip accentuates the motif and forms a magnificent frame for this top edition. Original: screen print with acrylic on canvas. High-quality reproduction in screen print in 4 colours on handmade 250g paper with embossed relief seal of the Warhol Foundation. Limited edition of 980 copies. In high-quality object framing. Format 40.5 x 48.5 cm, glazed. © 2001 The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc.
